Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the XX Baltic Animal Breeding Conference, which will be held in Jelgava, Latvia, at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies on 12–13 November 2026.
The main theme of the conference will be “Sustainable Development of the Livestock Sector.” The scientific programme will address current challenges and opportunities in animal science and livestock production, aiming to foster discussion and identify solutions to the most pressing issues facing the sector today.
The Baltic Animal Breeding Conference has a long-standing tradition of bringing together researchers, breeders, policymakers, and industry representatives. The event provides an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, share new ideas, and strengthen existing collaborations while creating new networking opportunities.
The conference programme is planned in the traditional format. On 12 November, the morning session will feature plenary presentations, followed by scientific and breeding-related presentations in the afternoon. A technical tour is planned for 13 November. A formal invitation and detailed programme will be distributed at a later date.

Abstracts of presenters will be prepared in an electronic version (~300 words). We encourage participants to contribute an oral presentation. Poster presentations will also be accepted and will be presented in an electronic format, accompanied by a short oral presentation of 3–5 minutes. Authors are responsible for the quality and content of their presentations.
Thanks to Latvia Ministry of Agriculture, the conference will be organised without a registration fee.
Participants will be responsible for covering their own travel and accommodation expenses.
We would be grateful if you could recommend a speaker from your country to deliver a presentation during the plenary session, following the official presentations by representatives of the Ministries from Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. We would particularly welcome a speaker who could provide insights into current developments, challenges, and future perspectives in the livestock sector.
